Project Checklist & Timeline

Coach Project Checklist

1 Assist students with registration. All students need parent/guardian consent.*Upon registration, a Coach Handbook and a Student Design Packet will be provided.


  • Students sign up individually online. They will need to know their parent/guardian email or have their parent/guardian present.
  • Parents register their students. Coach sends home “Letter to Parent.
  • Coach initiates registration. Parent consent still required. See Forms & Materials.
  • For those not able to register and/or give permission online, use the Offline Registration form. See Forms & Materials.



2 Carefully review rules, timeline, and guidelines found at the website.


3 Use the Coach's Handbook to help students complete OPSPARC tasks. Review the rubric with students to help students understand how their work will be assessed.


4 Help students submit their Glogs. There are TWO due dates for Glog submissions:

OPTION 1: Elementary, middle, and high school students (Grades 3-12) creating only Glogs -- March 5, 2018

OPTION 2: Middle and high school students (grades 7-12) creating Glogs and interested in working with college engineering and business students for the InWorld OPSPARC presentation -- February 20, 2018



5 Support the OPSPARC Public Choice Voting in April 2018.


6 For middle and high school teams (grades 7-12) selected for the InWorld OPSPARC presentation -- Show your support of the selected InWorld OPSPARC teams by being aware of due dates. College mentors will provide guidance for all InWorld OPSPARC work.

February 27 (Grades 9-12 Only): 20 Teams Selected for InWorld.
March 5: Glog Deadline.
April: Top 10 Finalists Selected.
April 12 (Grades 9-12 Only): Top 6 Teams Selected.
April 23-30: Public Choice Voting.
April 24-25 (Grades 9-12 Only): Design Reviews
May 1: Winners Announced.
June 13-14: Winners Workshops & Celebration at NASA Goddard.
